Review : Overall I like this movie but could have been a little bit better... Having served in Korea in the early 1980's near the DMZ and along the DMZ as an MP.

I think an intro at start of movie would have been better had it showed the S.Korea line and fortifications along the south edge of the DMZ. No doubt the most heavily weapon fortification and showdown in the world. Trenches and outposts scattered for miles along the line with patrols on both sides. There's no doubt when one sees that, the real threat just across the Zone looking north forms the real picture." The fear of the N.Korea Army. " We see the trees in the movie - the enemy N. Korean border guards on the move but maybe missing the forest ... Again a preview of the reality of the front line would tie this all up best. There have been numerous incidents along the boundary that spans nearly 65 yrs... would certainly add fuel to the fire and then the follow-up as these soldiers try to make it back to the southern boundary of the DMZ . The north Koreans would have likely set up land mines on there side of DMZ to prevent defectors from going south. Maybe that too would add to realism.

Review :The Monkey (2025): A Total Mess in a Monkey MaskAlright, let’s not sugarcoat this. The Monkey is an absolute wreck. It doesn’t just miss the mark — it launches itself in the wrong direction entirely. The whole thing feels like a group project where no one talked to each other, and somehow it still ended up on the big screen.

Osgood Perkins promised this smart, dark comedy kind of vibe, but what we got was way closer to a TikTok meme that should’ve stayed in someone’s drafts. It tries to be funny but ends up so dumb and superficial that it’s honestly kind of insulting. If you’ve ever watched a Skibidi Toilet clip and thought, “Huh, that was weird,” — yeah, same energy, but stretched across 90 painful minutes. And then there’s the big change from cymbals to drums, which, in theory, was supposed to dodge copyright issues. But it added literally nothing to the story. Zero. Nada. It’s like changing the color of your shoes when your whole outfit is already a disaster — pointless, and still ugly. There was some potential in the emotional side of the story — mainly the family trauma — but it was handled with all the subtlety of a freight train. Especially that one random flashback about the cop dad and the skater kid? Felt like I walked into another movie halfway through. None of it clicked. None of it landed. As someone who’s read a decent chunk of Stephen King, I can confidently say this ain’t it. Perkins didn’t get the tone right, didn’t get the themes, and completely fumbled the pacing. It’s like he skimmed a King story and then rewrote it during a hangover with help from a horror-comedy Mad Libs. Visually? Tonally? Picture Final Destination had a baby with Napoleon Dynamite, and then Home Alone raised it on nothing but sugar and chaos. That might sound fun on paper, but trust me, it’s not. The gore is cheap, the slapstick is lazy, and the characters? Paper-thin and awkward in the worst way. But the worst offense? The movie’s desperate reach for some kind of deep meaning. It tries to slam in symbolism and reflections on mortality right after serving up goofy monkey jump scares. You can’t serve cheese dip and then suddenly throw in a monologue about death and expect it to feel profound. It just makes everything feel even more confused and out of place. Bottom line? The Monkey isn’t just bad. It’s hollow. It’s clunky. It’s like someone stitched together a bunch of horror leftovers and hoped the seams wouldn’t show — but oh, they show. Loud and clear. If you’re a Stephen King fan hoping for even a sliver of something good here, do yourself a favor and skip it. This wasn’t a misstep. It was a complete faceplant.

Review : After watching Raid 2, I couldn’t stop thinking about the amount of work income tax officers do, which often goes unnoticed. This movie does a great job of showing their intelligence, courage, and honesty. Ajay Devgn’s character is not a loud hero, but a smart and silent one, who believes in doing his duty. The way they uncover hidden money, handle threats, and still stay calm is shown very well. The direction and acting are both excellent, making you feel connected to every part of the story. It’s a must-watch movie for anyone who loves realistic and meaningful cinema.

The beginning felt a bit slow and didn’t hook me right away, but once the story picked up, it got more interesting. The film mainly revolves around a mother’s search for her missing son, and as things unfold, bigger secrets start coming to light. The action was good and the storyline had potential, but the ending wasn’t as suspenseful as I expected. It felt kind of flat after all that build-up. Overall, it’s a decent film if you’re looking for something intense and different, but not too mind-blowing. Just a good pick when you're in the mood to try something new. Final Thoughts: Nice action, cool plot, okay ending. Worth a single watch, but not something I’d rewatch. 3/5.

Review : A movie I was highly intrigued by right from the time I saw the trailer, I watched it as soon as it released in India—though that was a month after its US release. In hindsight, I wish it hadn’t been released at all, just to save myself from the disappointment.

The story begins with two young missionaries visiting a house to spread the word of God, only to get trapped by a diabolical man residing there. He starts a twisted game of faith, forcing them to rely on their beliefs to survive.

Review : You are 100% correct! I was just researching this one and it sounds like I might watch it anyway, but this is the kind of "movie magic" that drives me nuts. I wish the movie people that glorify guns all day, and campaign against them by night, at least knew a little bit about them.

My favorite part was the LMG with the sniper scope and horizontal grip … or that the main character always claws his gun straight by the Barrel or eve

Taxi driver Shanmugham (Mohanlal), known as Benz among family and friends, is a former film stunt assistant and a loving family man, whose adoration for his Mark 1 Ambassador is well-known. In fact, misusing his car once is the only reason for him to get angry with his son, Pavi, in an incident which spirals to an emotional storyline in the revenge drama.

Benz’s car gets taken in by the Ranni police over a drug smuggling issue that he isn’t involved in. After he uses various methods to get it back, the inspector and his subordinate (Prakash Varma and Binu Pappu) finally return it, but also engage him for a ride. After attending a night wedding party, the policemen coax him to drive through the forest and gradually, tell an angry and shocked Benz what has brought them there. The series beautifully captures the essence of a bygone era with impressive cinematography, meticulous art direction, and high production values. The ensemble cast delivers solid performances, drawing from a mix of silver screen actors and daily soap regulars. The initial episodes succeed in hooking the audience, setting up an intriguing premise where you’re left guessing: is it divine curse, a devil’s wrath, or man-made evil? The climax manages to stay unpredictable — a definite plus — but the lead-up feels stretched and a tad too convenient. The sequence of deaths eventually becomes repetitive, causing some loss of momentum. While the final twist redeems the series to an extent, it also feels like an afterthought rather than a well-planned reveal, making it surprising but not particularly thrilling. Another noticeable aspect is the continuous introduction of new characters mid-way, which, while adding layers, also tends to dilute the focus from the central mystery at times. That said, the sincere effort by the makers deserves recognition — especially the attempt to blend traditional storytelling with modern production techniques like VFX. In summary, Ayyana Mane is a laudable step forward, setting the stage for more regional stories, folklore, and hidden gems from across Karnataka to find a place on global OTT platforms. It is heartening to see such ventures taking shape, and one can only hope this is the beginning of many more to come.

Review : Joshiy is perhaps the greatest mass movie maker Malayalam has ever seen with the possible exception of Shaji Kailas. From “New Delhi (1987)” to “Lion (2006)”, the master director has given us an array of character-driven mass heroes, in direct contrast to the template physicality we have seen in the genre, relying more on power of personality and dialogue to deliver mass elevation sequences. In “Paappan”, he gives us a more understated, brooding and low key avatar of superstar Suresh Gopi which while being appreciable, still just barely manages to salvage an overlong, trite film.

The story follows the journey of retired Circle Inspector “Abraham Paappan” (Suresh Gopi) and his estranged daughter, ASP Vincy Abraham (an excellent Neeta Pillai) as they are forced to put aside their differences and work together to track down an elusive serial killer. The writing from RJ Shaan is unimaginative and cliche-ridden, relying on familiar tropes we have seen umpteen times in films such as “Ee Thanutha Veluppan Kalathu (1990)”, “Memories (2013)“ and “Anjaam Pathiraa (2020)”, offering nothing ingenuitive or unexpected to justify its overlong, overstuffed 2 hour 50 minute run-time. The supporting performances from Asha Sharath, Nandhu, Gokul Suresh, Kaniha and co remain surface-level and without impact not due to their performances but due to clear lack of tightness in the script and depth in the writing. There are so many characters moving in and out of the narrative without ever justifying their presence that after a point the audience will want to give up. The director might have thought these barrage of red herrings would have built up the suspense element, but they act contradictory to expectations, giving a contrived and exhausting sheen to proceedings.
